The title translates to-The Theoretical Brothers or Second Level of the Rosicrucians and Their Instructions Brought to the Light for the First Time by a Profane. In Addition to an Appendix From the Third and Fifth Degrees, as a sample. This book was originally printed in 1785, and was reprinted in 1789.
It contains the material for the second degree, that of the theoretical brothers, i.e. first a “fragment from the history of the kings of Schesian”, then the process of the reception and the table lodge and from p. 98 the theoretical lessons, which deal with the beginning of things, the elements, planets, metals, diseases, etc. From p. 221 it speaks of practical alchemical part “Appendix from the 3rd and 5th degrees, improved special instructions on the operations of the large mineral work of the 1st degree, or the Practico, including preparatory processes for the philosophical work and more.
With an engraved title vignette in red, with two double-page engraved plates (the carpet and the jewels of the degree), and symbols within the text throughout the book. Bound in a black full leather.
In Nearly Fine condition with the last leaf (eratta) missing, trimming to the right margin of the title page, very light toning and foxing throughout. The Black leather binding has bumped corners, and very light shelf wear.
