Book has some edge, corner and surface wear but is still square and securely bound. ; B&W Illustrations; Large 8vo 9″ – 10″ tall; 412 pages; This copy belonged to Charles Francis Adams, II, great-grandson of John Adams and grandson of John Quincy Adams. Charles Francis Adams II was a Brevet Brigadier General in the Civil War and a figure in Massachusetts politics and business after the war. Adams’ ownership signature is on the ffep and his bookplate on the front pastedown. Interestingly, the bookplate also has John Quincy Adams at the bottom and the year 1831.
