A captivating depiction of the Royal Exchange main building at the western end of Cornhill, London. The Royal Exchange was established in 1566 as a hub for merchants and manufacturers to conduct business on Threadneedle Street. It underwent reconstruction in 1669 following the Great Fire of London.

Thomas Bowles, a member of the esteemed Bowles family dominant in London’s print market, was a prosperous print seller and publisher, much like his brother John. He was also a skilled engraver, contributing numerous plates—both original drawings and those by contemporaries—to various collections, including Seymour’s Survey of London (1734). Bowles also created standalone engravings like this one
