Original 1952 Memorandum on the Foundation of a European Socialist Party

Original 1952 letter with a Memorandum on the Foundation of a European Socialist Party drafted by Peter Bünemann of St. Antony’s College Oxford. The letter is addressed to Radomir Turajlić and signed by Bünemann, inviting Mr. Turajlić to participate in the discussion about the seven basic principles of the Party.

The draft forms the basis for the discussion taking place at St. Antony’s College Oxford on 21st October 1952. The main goal of the discussion is the formation of a European Federal State / the United States of Europe.

The document consists of 8 introductory points of the memorandum and 4 appendices: a draft plan of a European Socialist Party, the conception of the party, the conception of the united states of Europe, and a list of those to whom the memorandum was sent.
