Oceanside, CA: Thelema Publishing, 1971.
A first edition of Shih Yi, a unique reinterpretation of the I Ching by Aleister Crowley, intended to simplify its process. Bound in maroon faux leather with a gold-stamped salamander design on the cover and spine, this 66-page volume includes an advertisement for the Church of Thelema and a Hexagram Selector.
The book features stunning marbled endpapers in shades of blue, red, and yellow (variations exist among editions). Some light wear and minor staining, but overall a beautiful and well-preserved copy.
The introduction is written by Soror Grimaud (Helen Parsons Smith), a notable figure in the Agape Lodge of the O.T.O., initiated in 1941 under Wilfred Smith, alongside her then-husband Jack Parsons. Both were deeply influenced by Aleister Crowley and his teachings.
A beautiful rare book about the I Ching that was created to simplify the process by Aliester Crowley. Rare and elegant edition for collectors of Crowley, Thelema, and esoteric studies.
