Rupert Brooke, an English poet known for his idealistic war sonnets during WWI, including the acclaimed poem “The Soldier.” He was part of the Bloomsbury group and Georgian Poets with Robert Frost and Edward Thomas. Referred to as the “handsomest young man in England” by W. B. Yeats. Edward Marsh championed his work, bringing Brooke to Winston Churchill’s attention. Brooke enlisted in 1914 and sadly died from an illness caused by a mosquito bite at sea a year later. This edition was published 12 years after the first edition and features a memoir along with his collection of poetry. Beautifully bound and originally published in 1927.
