This copy of The Collected Poems of Rupert Brooke is a rare and highly sought-after book that was previously owned by distinguished collectors Harry Bacon Collamore and Waldo Leon Rich. Both collectors were notable figures in the world of rare book collecting and had authored books on the subject.

This superb First Edition, originally limited to 1,000 printings in 1915, is in near fine condition and comes with a custom Mylar sleeve.

Rupert Brooke was an English poet renowned for his idealistic war sonnets penned during the First World War, with his poem “The Soldier” being particularly acclaimed.

He was a member of the Bloomsbury group of writers and the Georgian Poets, alongside notable figures like Robert Frost and Edward Thomas. Known for his good looks, the poet W. B. Yeats once referred to Brooke as “the handsomest young man in England.”

Brooke’s poetry garnered wide admiration and he was championed by Edward Marsh, who brought him to the attention of Winston Churchill. Brooke enlisted at the start of WWI in 1914 and tragically passed away at sea just a year later due to an illness from a mosquito bite.

The publication of The Collected Poems of Rupert Brooke posthumously immortalized his work and remains highly coveted, with true first editions in exceptional condition like ours being extremely rare.

We only have one available and I’d argue we have the finest preserved copy out of all original first printings.
